Infra Red

Infra red systems are generally used to assist hearing, for audio description for blind people in theatres and cinemas, or for translation. Infra Red systems are a very good way to meet DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) legislation for assisted hearing. Most of our infra red systems include both neck loop receivers and headset receivers - neck loop receivers can be used by anyone wearing a hearing aid with "T" induction setting, headsets (or stethoset) receivers can be used by people who have experienced a hearing loss but don't wear a hearing aid. Unlike induction loops, infra red systems don't require a loop of cable to surround the audience and so lend themselves better to portable use. Another major advantage of infra red systems is that there is no spill through walls, which will allow infra red to be used in adjacent rooms without interference or loss of privacy, great for classrooms or meeting rooms. The main disadvantage of infra red systems is that they require headset or neck loop receivers to be passed out to the users and gathered again after use.
